NHRP Academy undergraduate competition: What are the barriers and enablers to undergraduate research?

Newcastle Health Research Partnership (NHRP) Academy supports anyone who is, or aspires to be, on a health and care academic pathway, at any career stage, from any discipline (clinical, practitioner, methodology, policy).
The competition
We are running a competition to find out what the barriers are to undergraduate research and what we can do to address them. We are interested in enablers at all levels – from activities we can address locally to advocating nationally via policy.
- Open to: current undergraduate students from all subject areas at Northumbria University and Newcastle University.
- Winners will: receive a Gift Pay Voucher and be invited to present at the NHRP Academy Leadership Team & Training Oversight Committee.
- There is 1 x £300 voucher, 2 x £200 vouchers and 2 x £100 vouchers available as prizes.
Submitting your entry
- Enter by completing the submission form AND emailing your document(s) to nhrp.academy@newcastle.ac.uk by 20/04/26.
- Entries are welcome in any form. Including poster (up to A0 size), animation/video (max 5 minutes), or essay (max 1,500 words).
- Group applications are welcomed. There will be one prize per submission.
