New sessions added to PPIE training programme

Newcastle Health Research Partnership (NHIP) has added four new dates to its new Patient, Public Involvement and Engagement (PPIE) Training Programme.
The training programme is delivered alongside Creating Connections and teaches participants practical skills for effectively conducting PPIE and participation activities within their research projects.
The new sessions focus on research inclusion and are pivotal in supporting staff and public contributors to develop skills and confidence to engage with diverse groups. They are as follows:
- 25 November 2024 – How to Engage, Undertake and Deliver Equitable Research with People Seeking Asylum and Refugees, presented by Beauty Tshuma, Tees, Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust (TEWV). Register here.
- 4 December 2024 – British Sign Language (BSL)/Deaf Awareness, presented by Heidi Jobling, Deaflink. Register here.
- 12 December 2024 – Dementia and Imagination, presented by Kate Parkin and Hannah Wood, Equal Arts. Register here.
- I8 December 2024 – Learning Disability Awareness, presented by Claire Hills-Wilson, Lawnmowers Theatre Company. Register here.
The PPIE Training Programme is open to staff and public contributors involved in health and care research, regardless of their role or the organisation they work for. No prior experience in PPIE is required, and sessions are available for all levels of knowledge.
