Our Community

The NHRP Academy community brings together clinicians, practitioners and methodologists from across healthcare and academia. We create spaces for people to connect, learn from one another and build research careers, supported by peer networks, partnerships and shared learning.

NHRP Academy – Fellows Forum

The Fellows Forum is our peer‑to‑peer support network for people who are, or aspire to be, on an academic pathway.

You do not need to hold a fellowship to take part. We welcome clinicians, practitioners and methodologists from across health, care and academia.

What the Forum offers

  • An engaging programme of regular events
  • Peer support and shared learning
  • Opportunities to network across professions and organisations
  • Topics driven by the interests of the research community

The programme is free to attend, funded by Newcastle Health Research Partnership and delivered by the NHRP Academy team.

Newcastle Academic Primary and Community Care Unit (NAPCCU)

The NHRP Academy hosts and supports the Newcastle Academic Primary and Community Care Unit (NAPCCU).

NAPCCU brings together researchers and educators with a shared interest in primary and community care‑based health research, supporting:

  • Research collaboration
  • Education and teaching
  • Fellowship and career development opportunities

Regional Pre-Doctoral Community

Across the North East and North Cumbria, there is a growing number of people at the pre‑doctoral stage who want to develop a research career.

Our Regional Pre‑Doctoral Community provides:

  • Peer support across organisations and professions
  • Opportunities to build networks and confidence
  • Support for navigating the pre‑doctoral career stage

Members come from a range of backgrounds including clinical practice, local authorities, public health and research methods.

  • Support and celebrate diversity across our community
  • Collaborate with others to advance EDI in research
  • Are developing an EDI Working Group, informed by regular EDI drop‑in sessions
