Siân internship focus and aims

This internship will provide an opportunity to explore the role of the clinical academic alongside my current position as a research nurse, building on my background in emergency nursing and interest in the armed forces community. It will enable me to gain an insight into how academics, clinicians and third sector organisations collaborate to design and implement research into clinical practice.

The internship will focus on establishing connections with military and veteran health researchers, while developing insight into qualitative research methodologies. This will include exploring approaches to participant engagement, study design and the practical challenges of conducting research with this population. A particular area of interest is exploring how research in emergency medicine can enhance care for the armed forces community.

I am particularly looking forward to engaging with academic researchers, attending relevant training opportunities, gaining an insight into the current healthcare provision for veterans and the armed forces community and exploring potential areas for future research.
