Helen’s internship focus and aims

I am writing an application for a NIHR Research for a Patient Benefit funding award. This will involve staff, public and patient involvement (PPI) work, a literature review, grant writing and cultural competence training, working with the other researchers and writing the application. The topic of the grant application is to investigate patient and audiologist views and preferences of novel hearing care pathways to inform future service development and commissioning. I am keen to emphasise accessibility for all. The challenge of my internship is to get all the evidence together that this is a really important topic to research and write a high quality application to convince the reviewers to fund my work! I am looking forward to the PPI work with ethnically marginalised groups, those with high levels of socioeconomic deprivation, and the learning disability community, as these groups are less often involved in research and I will also further develop my skills in PPI work.
