Elena’s internship focus and aims

This internship is a great opportunity to develop my competencies as a clinical researcher while generating preliminary data for a future qualitative study. My project explores physiotherapy services in Accident and Emergency (A&E) departments. The first aim is to carry out a systematic review of existing literature to identify current evidence and gaps. Alongside this I will visit local NHS Trusts in the North East to gain practical insight into how physiotherapy services are delivered. Additionally, I will disseminate a survey to specialist interest groups to capture experiential perspectives from clinicians working in this area. I am particularly looking forward to visiting local trusts and seeing innovative approaches to patient care. A key challenge will be managing the different elements of the project within the nine-month timeframe. However, with support from my fantastic mentors, I am confident this experience will be both achievable and valuable in shaping my future research career.
