Session Information

Involved and Equal CIC provide engaging training on Disability Equality and Inclusion. The theories and models of disability are delivered by disabled people who bring their own and others lived experience to give a unique perspective on the subject of Disability Equality and Inclusion.

The event will cover points such as ‘What is Disability?’ and what it means to be disabled, to be discriminated against. The inequalities that disabled people face and how that impacts on disabled people and their families.

Ian and Sandra will also cover the importance of positive language and communication when working with disabled people and what to think about regarding Disability Inclusion and the barriers which may exclude disabled peoples’ involvement.

Programme Information

The PPIE training programme is open to staff and public contributors involved in health and care research, regardless of their role or the organisation they work for. The sessions will offer participants the opportunity to learn how to do PPIE and participation activities effectively within research.

There is no requirement to have any previous experience within PPIE. There are various training sessions available that are relevant to individual levels of PPIE and participation knowledge.
