Disability Awareness

Involved and Equal CIC provide engaging training on Disability Equality and Inclusion. The theories and models of disability are delivered by disabled people who bring their own and others Lived Experience to give a unique perspective on the subject of Disability Equality and Inclusion.

Led by  Ian Atkinson and Sandra Atkinson (Involved & Equal), the session will cover points such as What is Disability? and what it means to be disabled, to be discriminated against. The inequalities that disabled people face and how that impacts on disabled people and their families.

We will also cover the importance of positive language and communication when working with disabled people and what to think about regarding Disability Inclusion and the barriers which may exclude disabled peoples’ involvement.
