2025 Newcastle Integrated Academic Training Symposium – Celebrating Research Excellence

Date and time

Event date: Monday, 22 Sep 2025
Time: TBC
Location: The Catalyst

This event aims to provide an inclusive forum where we can celebrate the outstanding research taking place across all career stages of clinical academic training in Newcastle. It will also be a really important opportunity for us all to come together and interact as a community.

We’re honoured to welcome Professor Charlotte Summers, Chair of Intensive Care Medicine at the University of Cambridge, as our keynote speaker. Professor Summers brings a wealth of experience spanning the translational research pathway—from fundamental mechanisms to clinical trials—and currently chairs the MRC Experimental Medicine panel having previously been IAT Lead.

A key part of the day is to showcase your work and there will be a call for abstracts shortly. The programme will include talks from individuals at all career stages along with poster sessions. This will include prizes for the best presentations. We encourage all SFPs, ACFs and CLs to submit abstracts. For those without access to a bursary support can be provided with poster printing

We will also be inviting supervisors and others across the clinical academic training community to join us for what promises to be an inspiring and rewarding day. The event has been scheduled with accessibility in mind, and we encourage you to request study leave to attend. The symposium is free of charge.

Further details, including the call for abstracts and full programme, will follow soon.
